Giants shaking things up within their organization
In a surprise move the New York Giants have decided to part with senior director of football information Jon Berger after he spent the last 40 years with the organization. He was hired back in 1981.
Over the years Berger has helped Giants’ coaches and front office with research and analysis. He was essentially their first analytics person within the organization.
It sounds like Berger and the Giants agreed that it was time for him to move on.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my tenure with the Giants,” Berger told Dan Duggan of The Athletic. “Met some amazing people along the way and have so many incredible memories.”
Berger is originally from Queens and graduated from the University of Albany. Aside from serving as the Giants’ senior director of football information he was their director of information technology and was also an on-the-field assistant and intern within the media services department earlier in his career.
Berger also worked for the New York Knicks as a statistician from 1987-2018. I would imagine that he has another job lined up with another pro sports team with all of his experience with the Giants and Knicks.
