Kadarius Toney at 11 would be a reach
It’s pretty much a guarantee that wide receivers Devonta Smith, Ja’marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle will be taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
In Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, he has the New York Giants using the 11th overall pick on University of Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Here’s what he wrote:
Dave Gettleman loves throwing everyone for a loop in the draft, and he does so again with Toney here, although the Florida product is precisely the type of playmaker Danny Dimes needs.
Toney caught 70 passes for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2020 for the Gators.
Toney is a speedster that can stretch the field, but the question is, is he good enough to be a number one receiver at the next level?
Toney generated a lot of buzz during his time at the 2021 Senior Bowl, which is why he could end up being taken in the first round. But I’m not sure if he’s good enough to go at 11. His biggest weaknesses are route running and his size. He can only improve one of those.
