Giants need a corner like Malcolm Butler
With all of the needs the New York Giants have to fill this offseason, one of them is to find a number two cornerback. One player that might make sense is former New England Patriots’ star Malcolm Butler after news came out on Tuesday that the Tennessee Titans are releasing him.
Butler is good friends with Giants’ safety Logan Ryan and is familiar with head coach Joe Judge from their time in New England together.
Now, Butler just turned 31 years-old so with his age I would imagine that his player will start to decline, but he’s still good enough to help out a team as a number two corner. He did record four interceptions in 2020 and if the money is right, the Giants should certainly sign him.
Even though free agency doesn’t start until next week, the Giants as well as any team in the NFL could sign Butler as soon as the Titans officially release him.
There’s no doubt in my mind that New York will call Butler’s agent, but things may not get very far if both sides aren’t on the same page when it comes to the salary numbers with the Giants not having a lot of cap space this offseason. Especially after using the franchise tag on Leonard Williams.
