Austin Johnson is staying with the Giants
Update: Here are the details of Johnson’s contract.
Original story: While we’re still waiting to see if the New York Giants will be able to get an extension done for both Leonard Williams and Dalvin Tomlinson, they’ve re-signed another defensive lineman.
Dan Graziano of ESPN is reporting that the Giants have re-signed Austin Johnson. This move gives Big Blue some much needed depth along their defensive front.
The 26 year-old Johnson is a native of Galloway, New Jersey and was a second round pick out of Penn State in 2016 for the Tennessee Titans. He signed a one-year deal with the Giants last March.
Jonson has a total of 46 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 5 passes defended so far during his career.
Johnson is not a guy that can replace Tomlinson as a starter, but he can rotate in and out and help out when needed. The Giants will likely draft Tominson’s replacement if he does end up signing elsewhere. So far, we haven’t heard his name linked with any times now that the free agency negotiating window is open.
