Giants don’t need Cordarrelle Patterson
It looks like we shouldn’t expect the New York Giants to make any big free agent signings with Leonard Williams holding things up.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN did mention that the Giants could try and sign wide receiver/kick returner/running back Cordarrelle Patterson.
Giants’ head coach Joe Judge raved about Patterson prior to when the Giants played the Chicago Bears in week two of the 2020 season.
“When you play against this guy, everybody on the field better be aware of where he’s at, whether that’s offense or on special teams,” said Judge.
Patterson would be a nice weapon to have but I don’t see how he fills any of the Giants’ major needs. He’s at most a third receiver, gadget running back and kick returner. He’s a guy with a lot of speed that never panned out as a wide receiver after being taken in the first round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
Patterson is a former first round bust that has stuck around in the NFL because of his speed, which enables him to make big plays from time to time.
