Dalvin Tomlinson’s time in New York is over
With the New York Giants using their franchise tag on defensive lineman Leonard Williams, the writing was on the wall that they weren’t going to be able to re-sign Dalvin Tomlinson.
On Monday evening, the agency that represents Tomlinson announced that he will be signing with the Minnesota Vikings when free agency officially opens on Wednesday.
Tomlinson’s deal with the Vikings is worth $22 million over two years with $20 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.
It also turns out that the Giants’ NFC East rivals in the Dallas Cowboys, were interested in Tomlinson, but couldn’t afford his price tag, according to Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News.
It seems like the Giants do a great job of drafting and developing defensive tackles and then the Vikings seem to sign them in free agency. Back in 2014 they signed Linval Joseph, who played for the Los Angeles Chargers last season.
With Tomlinson gone, I would imagine that BJ Hill and Austin Johnson will have bigger roles in 2021 and New York will also likely draft another defensive tackle.
