Should the Giants sign Kenny Golladay?
Now that we’re into the second day of free agency, we know that the New York Giants are interested in signing free agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay and will actually bring him in for a visit.
The Giants as well as other NFL teams have concerns over the fact that Golladay has had a hard time staying healthy so far in his career. He’s only played one full season which was in 2019.
Former Giants’ running back Tiki Barber has come out and bashed the idea of signing Golladay.
“It’s stupid, but somebody is going to give [a big contract] to him,” Barber said, via NJ Advance Media. “He played five games last year and had one great season.
“To me, there’s not even a question of what the Giants should do with their first-round pick this year. Get one of those [receivers] and develop him along with the rest of this young offense.”
I think Barber has a point. But the fact of the matter is that quarterback Daniel Jones is going into his third season and it’s crucial that the Giants get him weapons that they know he can rely on now. If they draft a receiver, no one knows when that player will really be able to help them on the field at a high level.
If the Giants are able to sign Golladay for around $14-17 million per year, it would be a good deal.
Despite Barber’s concerns, Pro Football Focus point out that Golladay knows how to come down with contested targets.
