Giants need to draft an edge rusher
The after a strong offseason so far, the New York Giants still need to add some depth to their roster, so trading down in the first round might be a good move.
In Chad Reuter of NFL.com’s latest mock draft, he has the New York Giants making a trade to move down to 20 to take University of Georgia edge rusher Azeez Ojulari. Here’s what he wrote:
The Giants get a couple of premium picks from this trade with the Bears and still select a much-needed pass rusher who best fits their scheme. Ojulari’s a good athlete and plays bigger than his 6-foot-3, 240-pound frame portends against the run. He could remind Giants coaches of Markus Golden, who had 10 sacks for the G-Men in 2019.
I’m all for this because the Giants in return would get the 20th pick, the Bears’ 2021 third round pick and their first round pick in 2022.
With New York filling a lot of their needs in free agency, they shouldn’t be as pressed to take a player at 11, which is why trading down isn’t a bad idea.
