Things seem to be going well internally for the Giants
One of the biggest challenges that NFL teams sometimes have to deal with is making sure that their general manager and head coach have a great relationship. Sometimes egos can get in the way and drama ensues.
Take the San Francisco 49ers for example, who had a great head coach in Jim Harbaugh and a very good general manager in Trent Baalke. Things got so bad that the Niners ended up firing Harbaugh and now Baalke is no longer their general manager and they had tp rebuild with a new head coach and GM.
New York Giants’ co-owner John Mara recently told the New York Post that there is no power struggle between general manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Joe Judge and that any rumors suggesting there is, are wrong.
“I think the combination of Joe and Dave works. They don’t agree 100 percent of the time, but what’s impressed me so far is that neither one is engaged in any kind of power struggle. When it comes to a decision, it’s a Giants decision at the end of the day, not a Dave Gettleman or Joe Judge decision,” Mara said.
If anything, Gettleman needs to be grateful for Judge buying him some time with a solid first season.
It will be interesting to see how the players that Gettleman brings in this offseason, perform this coming fall.
