Jason McCourty to the Giants?
The New York Giants have already made more free agent signings than I think anyone every expected this offseason.
Even though one of the Giants’ top free agent signings is cornerback Adoree Jackson, it sounds like they’re interested in signing another defensive back.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post says that the Giants and free agent cornerback Jason McCourty are interested in one another.
The 33 year-old McCourty is a New Jersey native that just finished up his contract with the New England Patriots after signing with them in 2018.
McCourty would give the Giants more depth at the corner position, but I’m not sure where he would fit in because ideally Darnay Holmes would keep his job as the slot corner. I would imagine that he would come in and sign a veteran minimum deal and provide depth behind both Jackson and James Bradberry in case either goes down with an injury.
With head coach Joe Judge’s ties to the Pats, signing McCourty wouldn’t be a surprise.
