I’m sure Jabrill Peppers would love to wear the number 5
We already know that one change the NFL and it’s owners made this offseason is the addition of a 17th regular season game for the upcoming 2021 season and beyond.
The Kansas City Chiefs have also proposed expanding the number options that different positions have. Currently players can only choose the following numbers based on their position:
- QB/P/K: Nos. 1-19
- RB: Nos. 20-49
- TE/FB: Nos. 40-49, 80-89
- WR: Nos. 10-19, 80-89
- OL: Nos. 50-79
- DL: Nos. 50-79, 90-99
- LB: Nos. 40-59, 90-99
- DB: Nos. 20-49
Here’s what the Chiefs have proposed:
With that being said, New York Giants’ safety Jabrill Peppers hinted to his teammate, kicker Graham Gano, that he wouldn’t mind switching to the No.5 that Gano currently wears. Of course Peppers wore it at the University of Michigan.
It sounds like Gano is willing to make a deal for the right price.
Players typically make deals whenever they want to acquire a number that a current player on the team has. It could be something as small as buying them dinner or thousands of dollars.
As of right now, the Chiefs are only making a proposal, so nothing is official. I like this proposal and hope it gets approved.
