Giants desperately need a top-tier edge rusher
We all know what needs the New York Giants have heading into the 2021 NFL Draft later this month.
If the Giants are going to take care of one need though, it has to be at the edge rusher position because they don’t have anyone that can consistently get after opposing quarterbacks that comes off the edge.
Now, you could argue that the offensive line is New York’s biggest need, but they have some promising players already in place there, whereas on the edge there isn’t much production at all.
The Giants have added some players on the edge that can help when it comes to rushing the passer in both Ryan Anderson and Ifeadi Odenigbo, They also have Lorenzo Carter and Oshane Ximines, but both players are coming off of injuries and are still unproven. Also none of the players that I just listed are the caliber of player that Big Blue need.
The Giants will likely have a choice of taking a premier edge rusher either in the first or second round. They should be able to pick from guys like Kwity Paye, Jayson Oweh, Azeez Ojulari, Jaelen Phillips and others.
Due to the fact that we don’t know which players the Giants value the most, we won’t know what their draft board will look like and that of course will determine who they draft and when they draft them.
For now, I think it’s safe to say that they will definitly take an edge rusher early on in this year’s draft.
