Did Eli Manning make things awkward on purpose?
Former NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall ended up playing only a total of five games for the New York Giants back in 2017, but he has funny story as it pertains to Eli Manning.
Eli’s older brother Cooper Manning did an interview with Marshall and that’s how the story came out.
“Eli is on the side and he just threw a terrible ball. Odell is [expletive] and then, so I walk up to Eli — and this is something I did with Jay Cutler and something I did with Ryan Fitzpatrick — and it always worked,” Marshall said. “So I go up to Eli and Eli has his face in the iPad looking at the play and I’m like, ‘Eli! That was a terrible pass.’
“I said, ‘that was a terrible pass, what are you thinking? What are you doing?’ And he just looked at me. Didn’t say anything and it was the most awkward moment because, in the past with Ryan Fitzpatrick and those guys, they would laugh and it would break it up and we would get past it. Eli just looked at me like, ‘if you don’t get out of my face.”
At the end of the interview, Cooper said that he thinks Eli was messing with Marshall by staying silent.
Eli also responded on Twitter to the interview.
I got a feeling Cooper is right about why Eli was silent. He would know his brother the best given that they’re blood. Plus, Eli has always had a covert sense of humor.
