Giants will have a lot of options at 11
After the New York Giants’ free agency frenzy, most mock drafts lately have them taking an offensive lineman or linebacker with the 11th overall pick.
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports has released a seven round mock draft and believes the Giants should take Northwestern offensive lineman Rashawn Slater with the 11th overall pick.
Round 1 – 11th overall – Northwestern OL Rashawn Slater
The Giants will happily end the fall of Slater. A lineman with five-position flexibility, Slater can step into an offensive line that made strides last year in the aftermath of a coaching shakeup.
Below is who Edwards has the Giants taking in the rest of his mock:
- Round 2 (42nd pick) LSU LB Jabril Cox
- Round 3 – (76th pick) – Duke EDGE Chris Rumph II
- Round 4 – 116th overall – Florida State EDGE Janarius Robinson
- Round 6 – 196th overall – Houston WR Marquez Stevenson
- Round 6 – 201st overall – Marshall OT Josh Ball
I would rather see the Giants take an edge rusher or wide receiver in the second round over a linebacker. This year’s receiver class is so deep that even a pass catcher in the fourth round would be great. The sixth round is fine, but I think taking one higher would be a better move.
I know New York signed a lot of weapons in free agency, but they all have injury concerns, so adding a young receiver in the early to mid rounds would be good.
