Micah Parsons isn’t worth the risk for the Giants
Earlier in the week ESPN’s Jordan Raanan mentioned on his podcast that the New York Giants aren’t really interested in Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons like people think they are.
Then you have Kim Jones of the NFL Network who listed Parsons as one of six prospects that she knows the Giants are considering with the 11th overall pick.
There’s also a talent evaluator who told Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post that the Giants are hoping Parsons is off the board so they don’t have to make a decision on him.
“The Giants are hoping another team takes him,” a talent evaluator with another NFL team told The Post, “so they don’t have to decide.”
One scout says there are some concerns over Parsons’ marturity.
“There’s some [concern] because he comes off like Odell Beckham with high-maintenance stuff — like a quarterback playing linebacker,” one NFL scout said. “But I’m not worried about Parsons like I was worried about [DeAndre] Baker.
“He’s going to be a rock star, like an LT. He’s going to play early, he’s going to have success, he’s going to be sitting court-side. Nothing is going to stand in the way of football for Micah. The red flags aren’t enough to deter you from drafting him.”
I for one believe that there will likely be better options at 11 than Parsons when the Giants are on the clock so I don’t imagine that they will select him. I think New York will be cautious and not take a risk in this situation. They have to much riding on the upcoming season.
