Maybe Dave Gettleman will trade back this year
With the New York Giants having the 11th overall pick in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft, it might make sense for them to trade back and select an edge rusher because it would be a waste of a pick to take a pass rusher so high when they could get one of the top receivers at 11.
With that being said, Giants’ general manager Dave Gettleman has never traded back, but he says that he has tried in the past.
“You guys don’t believe me, but I’ve tried [to trade back in the past]. I’m not getting fleeced; I refuse to do it,” Gettleman said. “If somebody wants to make a bad trade back, God bless them. It’s almost like an urban myth. I’ve tried.”
Daniel Jeremiah of the NFL Network made it known on Wednesday that he doesn’t believe Gettleman will trade down.
“I think we’ll see a right turn in a Nascar race before we see Dave Gettleman trade back. So I don’t see that happening,” said Jeremiah.
If the Giants don’t trade down and they’re able to grab an offensive tackle like Rashawn Slater or a receiver like Devonta Smith, they better not take a pass rusher.
