Devonta Smith could be a special player
The start of the 2021 NFL Draft is now under a week away and New York Giants insider Jordan Raanan of ESPN has released his latest “Breaking Big Blue” podcast. In his latest episode, he mentioned that he’s heard the most amount of buzz on Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith and in particular Smith.
“I would be really surprised if the Giants don’t take Smith if he’s available at 11,” Raanan said around the four minute mark.
Now of course we don’t know if Smith will be available and Raanan even mentioned that. But if he is on the board, I wonder if it’s safe to assume that he’s at the top of the Giants’ draft board.
There is also some concern over Smith’s size after weighing in at 166 pounds during an NFL medical check up recently. With the fact that he’s 6-foot-1, 166 pounds is very very frail for a wide receiver coming into the NFL.
The good thing is that the Giants could help Smith bulk up and bring him along slowly with the fact that they have so many weapons already on offense.
