Would this be a good move?
The New York Giants and then San Diego Chargers worked a huge draft day trade back in 2004 that of course brought quarterback Eli Manning to the Big Apple and sent Philip Rivers out west.
Could the now Los Angeles Chargers and Giants be working on another trade?
Pro Football Focus took a screen shot of a tweet that the Chargers have deleted, indicating that they’ve made a trade with the Giants.
In the trade, the Giants would move down from 11 to 13 and also pick up a third round pick.
Trading down makes a lot of sense given the fact that the Giants only have six picks in this year’s draft. Moving down to 13 might make sense if they want to get an edge rusher or offensive lineman in the first round, but it may not be far enough.
If there are better players available in that spot like cornerback Patrick Surtain II, it would be hard for the Giants to pass him up.
For some reason it looks like the Chargers have jumped the gun when it comes to announcing a deal with the Giants. This does show us that New York general manager Dave Gettleman is trying to move down.
