Sounds like Jaylen Waddle, Devonta Smith are Giants top choices
With the 2021 NFL Draft only two days away, it’s starting to sound like the New York Giants likely won’t take an edge rusher with the 11th overall pick.
Jordan Raanan of ESPN mentioned in his latest “Breaking Big Blue” podcast that the Giants aren’t in love with any of the edge rushers in this year’s draft.
“…If they don’t have any of the edge rushers that they’re absolutely in love with, which is kind of what I’m hearing right now,” said Raanan. “When I have people from around the league and people that I talk to in general talk to me about the Giants, it’s not involving a lot of edge rusher guys. The names you hear are…it starts with the wide receivers from Alabama. We’re talking about Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle.”
I get the feeling that the Giants could take a wide receiver or corner in the first round and then target an edge rusher in the second round.
I know many Giants fans don’t want them to go with a receiver or corner in round one, but they have to take the best player available and the chance to trade down isn’t always there.
It looks like the Giants’ top choices for the first round are either Smith or Waddle at 11.
