Giants need a young running back
Aside from the New York Giants’ most glaring needs, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to take a running back at some point during the 2021 NFL Draft.
Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano of ESPN are reporting that the Giants have done extensive work when it comes to this year’s class.
Two teams picking early on Day 2 that have done extensive work on running backs: the Falcons and Giants. Atlanta desperately needs help there. And with Saquon Barkley still recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a decision on his fifth-year option looming, the Giants could be looking for insurance.
Devontae Booker was a good free agent signing by the Giants this offseason, but with the shelf life of running backs being so short in the NFL, they need to get younger at the position. Especially with Saquon Barkley coming off of a torn ACL.
Right now, we also don’t know what Barkley’s future holds. If he can’t stay healthy and the Giants decide to move on from him, they will need to find his replacement at some point.
