The Giants better hope Penei Sewell somehow falls to them
The 2021 NFL Draft is almost 24 hours from kicking off and we’re finding out more about the New York Giants and what they might do in the first round.
On Tuesday we learned that there are five players the Giants are targeting at 11. But could they move up?
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano are reporting that the Giants have done a lot of work on Oregon offensive tackle Penei Sewell.
The expectation, at least right now, is his floor is No. 8. The Giants (No. 11) are a sneaky contender here. We’re hearing they’ve done a ton of legwork on Sewell, including last-minute virtual calls.
It would be quite a shock of Sewell fell to the Giants at 11, but it could certainly happen. I definitely wouldn’t expect them to trade up. It’s simply not worth it because of what they would have to give up.
With some teams preferring Rashawn Slater over Sewell, there is an outside chance the Giants could get up with Sewell. Right now though, I got a feeling that they will select a wide receiver at 11.
