Washington may have wanted Justin Fields
The New York Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman shocked the NFL world when for the first time in his career he traded down from the 11th overall pick to the 20th overall pick after working out a deal with the Chicago Bears.
While the Eagles jumping over the Giants hurt Big Blue because they took Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith, the Giants making a deal with Chicago may have hurt the Washington Football Team. The reason I say this is because the Bears selected Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, who I’m sure Washington wouldn’t have passed up with the 19th pick.
Now Washington is certainly stuck with Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starter for 2021, unless they take a quarterback within the first few rounds that shocks the world.
Now we get to wait and see who the Giants will take at 20. My guess is an edge rusher and I think it will be Michigan’s Kwity Paye if he’s still on the board.
