Giants need Devonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle
The first round of the 2021 NFL Draft is just hours away from starting and we have an even better idea of who the New York Giants will select with the 11th overall pick.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan dropped some nuggets on Twitter today. First and foremost he says that it looks like the Giants will take either Jaylen Waddle or Devonta Smith with the 11th overall pick.
Raanan also mentioned that Northwestern offensive tackle Rashawn Slater seems unlikely for the Giants.
When it comes to value, both Smith and Waddle make the most sense for the Giants. If they can’t get either of them then they could take a cornerback or even an edge rusher.
Even though the Giants have a lot of weapons on offense, Waddle or Smith would be an instant upgrade over someone like Darius Slayton and make their offense even more potent.
Imagine the Giants lining up with Smith/Waddle, Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Evan Engram. They would also still have John Ross and Kyle Rudolph ready to go as well.
