Giants don’t need Aaron Rodgers
News broke on Thursday that Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers wants out and of course we all wondered whether general manager Dave Gettleman called the Packers.
While talking to the media on Thursday night Gettleman made it clear that they never called Green Bay and are fully behind Daniel Jones.
Like I wrote yesterday, trading for Rodgers doesn’t make sense. He’s almost 40 years-old and the Giants need their draft picks because they’re not ready to compete no matter who their quarterback is.
The Giants have brought in quite a few weapons for Jones via free agency and now through the draft after using the 20th overall pick Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney. He will now have zero excuses if he doesn’t take his play to the next level in 2021.
With the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft now over and the Giants taking a receiver to help Jones, I think Gettleman and company will select an edge rusher in round two.
