Kadarius Toney is an explosive playmaker
This past Thursday was the first time since 2014 that the New York Giants used a first round pick on a wide receiver when they selected Florida’s Kadarius Toney. The last time they did so was in 2014 when they selected none other than Odell Beckham Jr.
As Dan Duggan of The Athletic points out, Toney and Beckham’s pre-draft test numbers are very similar.
What’s interesting about these numbers is that I heard some draft analysts say that Toney “doesn’t have top end speed,” but his forty time is really good and even better than Beckham’s. I got a feeling that he could end up being a deep threat, not just someone who can take short passes to the house.
The great thing about Toney is not only does he have the strength and moves to evade defenders, but he can play a variety of positions on offense. Big Blue will likely move him around to exploit mismatches with opposing defenders.
