Giants may have been looking to upgrade the quarterback position
Just last week New York Giants’ general manager Dave Gettleman shot down the idea of trying to trade for Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers. His tune changed on Monday.
During an interview on 660 WFAN in New York, Gettleman was asked whether he inquired about Rodgers and Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson.
“You explore everything,” Gettleman replied, via NJ.com.
That reply right there tells me that Gettleman likey called both the Seahawks and the Packers to inquire about both Wilson and Rodgers. Of course both teams shot him down and I don’t think the Giants will be making a trade for either guy.
The best move really is for the Giants to move forward with Daniel Jones because Rodgers isn’t getting any younger. On the other hand when it comes to Wilson, he would certainly be worth trading for. Right now though, neither player is going anywhere.
The most important thing is that Jones is able to prove that he can be a franchise quarterback. If not, New York will have to draft another quarterback in 2022.
