The Giants are set at corner
Just a couple of weeks ago the New York Giants brought in free agent cornerback Jason McCourty for a visit. but he left without a deal.
There was still a chance that the Giants could sign him in the future, but after drafting two cornerbacks last week, it kind of ruled out McCourty coming to New York.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network reported on Thursday that McCourty is signing with the Miami Dolphins and reuniting with head coach Brian Flores.
I would say that the Giants are set at corner, unless multiple guys go down with injuries during training camp.
Even if the Giants had signed McCourty, I’m not sure what his role would have been. He could have competed for the nickel corner spot with Darnay Holmes or could have ended up fourth on the depth chart.
Heading into next season the Giants have one of the best secondaries in the NFL on paper. Hopefully they’ll produce on the field and help get them back to the playoffs.
