Now we know why Kadarius Toney skipped OTA’s
It was odd that New York Giants’ first round pick Kadarius Toney missed the team’s voluntary minicamp sessions after attending their rookie minicamp.
It turns out that Toney skipped the OTA’s because he hadn’t signed his contract yet, according to Dan Duggan of The Athletic.
As Duggan mentioned in his article it’s odd for a rookie to not attend the OTA’s even if his contract isn’t signed because they will typically sign a waiver stating that if they suffer an injury it won’t affect the contract negotiations. As rookie it is vital to attend all of the offseason workouts whether they’re mandatory or not.
It’s alo been alarming that Toney has only finished one practice session this offseason and missed the Giants’ final minicamp practice this week due to a “family emergency.” He had some cleat issues early on and it seems like he may have been hampered by a minor injury.
The last thing the Giants need is a wide receiver that brings drama to the locker room and the field.
