Signing Adoree Jackson is a risk the Giants had to take
With training camp six weeks away from starting I thought everyone was done with blasting the New York Giants for some of their offseason moves.
Seth Trachtman of Rotoworld and YardBarker wrote a an article detailing every NFL team’s most head scratching move of the offseason. When it comes to the Giants, he chose them signing cornerback Adoree Jackson.
The Giants have done a nice job remaking their secondary over the last two years, but they’re taking on a huge risk with Jackson. The former Titan has struggled to stay healthy over the last two years, including only three games played last season, but he was guaranteed $26.5 million on a three-year deal from the Giants.
The game of football is all about players dealing with injuries and there is no doubt that this is a huge gamble by the Giants. But general manager Dave Gettleman is trying to save his job and New York is trying to get back to being relevant for the first time in a long time.
Could signing Jackson backfire? Of course it could, that’s just the way life is. But right now you can’t question the Giants’ desire to win football games.
