Darius Slayton should break out this season
I think some people believe that the New York Giants adding Kenny Golladay, John Ross and Kadarius Toney will hurt Darius Slayton, but I don’t see it that way.
I believe that Slayton will come out of the preseason as the Giants’ second receiver. But most importantly things are about to open up for him on the field.
The additions of Ross, Toney, Golladay and tight end Kyle Rudolph along with already having Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram should allow Slayton to be covered one-on-one and allow his speed to beat opposing defenders on go routes.
Pro Football Focus pointed out on Twitter Slayton’s average yards per route and he’s up there.
The fact of the matter is that Slayton is a good receiver but isn’t good enough to be a number one target, which is why the Giants added Golladay. But now that quarterback Daniel Jones has someone like Golladay, it will make things a whole lot easier for Slayton.
Slayton won’t put up bigtime stats because of all the weapons the Giants have, but I expect him to make more big plays in 2021.
