Saquon Barkley still the king of the NFC East?
The NFC East has four very good starting running backs, but which one is the best in the division? Below are my rankings heading into the 2021 NFL Season.
4 – Antonio Gibson – Washington Football Team
Gibson is the running back with the least amount of expierence in the NFL out of every starter in the NFC East. He’s an impressive player that should only get better as time goes on. It’s amazing how well he played as a rookie despite playing receiver in college.
One of the best things about Gibson is the fact that while he’s an effective runner, he can also catch the ball out of the backfield. He could shoot up these rankings by this time next year.
3 – Miles Sanders – Philadelphia Eagles
Sanders has yet to rush for 1,000 yards in either one of his two NFL seasons. Some of the that was due to the fact that as a rookie in 2019, he didn’t get all of the carries.
Things look bright for Sanders’ future as long as he can stay healthy. He missed four games last season and Philly will need him on the field with a young quarterback under center in Jalen Hurts.
2 – Ezekiel Elliott – Dallas Cowboys
I would honestly put Elliott at number one on this list if I were to factor in durability because of how many games Barkley has missed over the past two seasons. I almost even feel like Zeke and Barkley should be tied at number one on this list. But I’ll tell you why I have Barkley as my number one back in a moment.
Zeke of course is the complete package as a pass blocker and runner and is no doubt one of the top backs in the league.
1 – Saquon Barkley – New York Giants
Ok, so the reason why I have Barkley at the top of my list is because of his versatility and explosiveness. He’s amazing catching the ball out of the backfield and is a threat to score on any and every play. You can’t say the same about Elliott. That’s what separates them in my mind.
