Eli Penny has been the Giants’ fullback for the past three years
The New York Giants made an interesting move this offseason as they signed fullback Cullen Gillaspia as a free agent despite the fact that they already have Eli Penny.
Gillaspia was waived by the Houston Texans back in early March and never played on offense for them. Instead he was strictly a special teams player.
It seems like the current Giants’ coaching staff loves to create competition, which is maybe why they signed Gillaspia. He just turned 26 years-old, while Penny will be 28 years-old in August, so there isn’t a huge age difference between both players.
Even though Penny has been with the Giants since 2018 after spending his first two seasons in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, I’m sure head coach Joe Judge and general manager Dave Gettleman are open to moving on from him and keeping Gillaspia.
Now I do think because of Penny’s experience that he will likely win the job, but anything can happen this summer.
