Is Dominique Foxworth right?
I just mentioned how New York Giants linebacker Cam Browns loves playing with his teammate, quarterback Daniel Jones and is a big believer in the third-year signal-caller.
Well, like I also mentioned, the media aren’t big believers in Jones. One person who has voiced the fact that he doesn’t think Jones will get better in 2021 is former NFL player and ESPN pundit Dominique Foxworth.
“I believe that Daniel Jones is set up to show everybody that he’s a good player…they’ve put together potentially a really good offense around him,” Mike Greenberg said, via Empire Sports NY. “And if he is a good player, I think he’s set to have a big year this year. Do you want to change my mind [Domonique]?”
“I don’t want to change your mind,” Foxworth responded. “I think that the offseason moves that you put up are not really giving me much encouragement. His biggest problem was turning the ball over, and nothing about that speaks to protecting him; to allow him to get through his reads and make better decisions or protecting him so he doesn’t fumble as much as he does. Those were his big issues, and I do have to applaud the Giants’ offseason as far as the draft is concerned — I was surprised at how great their draft was…If he’s going to be an NFL quarterback, this will be the year that he shows it, but I’m not sure he’s going to show it.”
I think Foxworth has a point, but I also believe that adding talent around Jones will help be more confident. I also think that the fumbling and interception problems can be fixed. They’re mental errors that aren’t unrepairable.
You can watch what Foxworth had to say below.
