Eligible players will have to wait for the 2022 NFL Draft
For a second straight year the NFL has decided not to hold a supplemental draft. The CBA states that it’s up to the league and once again they will skip it.
Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network broke the news on Twitter.
The supplemental draft is typically held in July of every year and it’s for college players who didn’t declare for the regular draft or weren’t eligible. Some notable players that have been taken in the supplemental draft are former quarterback and wide receiver Terrelle Pryor and wide receiver Josh Gordon.
The way the supplemental draft goes is that teams put in bids for players by selecting a round they would take them in and the highest bidder gets the player and then loses that pick the following year.
It’s not a big deal that the league won’t hold the supplemental draft this year. For any player that wanted to enter it this year they will have to wait to be drafted in the 2022 NFL Draft.
