Saquon Barkley will have to learn to trust his knee
Former New York Giants’ running back Tiki Barber was a heck of a player during his prime and was arguably the top back in the league at one point. He’s also a big believer in current Big Blue running back Saquon Barkley.
“Saquon’s ceiling is limitless,” Barber told FanSided. “Because he is a grounded athlete and extremely athletic.”
Barber also offered Barkley some advice as he works his way back from a torn ACL.
“To stay healthy he will need to regain comfort on his reconstructed knee,” Barber explained. “Which means he will need to learn to run smarter, not harder, so that he does not continue to put himself in a dangerous position. Running through contact will help.”
Barkley worked out with one of the greatest backs in NFL history this offseason in Adrian Peterson who bounced back from a torn ACL early in his career to play all the way through last season. So I would say he’s probably received some great advice already this offseason.
With the Giants taking things slow with Barkley, I got a feeling he will be just fine this season. All we can hope for is that he’s able to stay healthy.
