Joe Judge on track for a Super Bowl title?
Former New York Giants’ running back Tiki Barber may not have been a big fan of Super Bowl winning head coach Tom Coughlin during his time with Big Blue, but he does see some positive similarities between him and current head coach Joe Judge.
“I think the biggest similarity between the two is the attention to detail,” Barber told FanSided. “And the importance of being precise, which they showcase. They are both straight shooters and at the end of the day, and if you don’t mind being coached hard, you appreciate what they bring.”
Despite a 6-10 record last season, it was obvious that the players bought into what Judge was selling them because of how they improved throughout the year. Barber isn’t surprised at all that this has happened.
“For most athletes,” Barber says. “As long as they are seeing themselves improve, they will buy in. You can tell they both operate with this mindset, which makes them great coaches.”
The key for Judge has been getting veterans like Logan Ryan to buy in. It’s worked so well that his veteran players even went out to recruit free agents this offseason. Now things could backfire if the Giants don’t continue to get better and implode this coming season. Of course it’s Judge’s job to make sure that doesn’t happen.
