Odell Beckham Jr. was a home run of a draft pick
Pro Football Focus recently wrote a piece where they picked each NFL team’s worst draft pick since 2006. For the New York Giants it was cornerback Eli Apple.
Now Michael Renner of PFF has listed each teams best value pick since 2006 and for the Giants that is wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
NEW YORK GIANTS: WR ODELL BECKHAM JR., LSU (12TH OVERALL IN 2014)
Beckham got off to what was quite easily the hottest start to a career of any receiver in NFL history, coming away with over 1,300 yards in each of his first three seasons. Even if injuries have taken a toll and he’s not done much of anything with the Browns, Beckham still netted the Giants a first- and third-rounder along with Jabrill Peppers on his exit from New York.
Like myself, many Giants’ fans wish that Big Blue never traded Beckham because of how dynamic and special he is as a player. Now they did end up getting some good players in return like Jabrill Peppers, Kevin Zeitler and a draft pick that is now Dexter Lawrence, as well as the 95th overall pick where they selected edge rusher Oshane Ximines.
Unfortunately for Beckham , his time in New York had to be cut short because all of the negative attention that came his way. Much of the attention was unnecessary and overblown by the media who seemed to be out to get him.
