Daniel Jones has the support of Michael Strahan
Former New York Giants’ defensive end and Hall of Famer Michael Strahan had the pleasure of playing a portion of his career with Eli Manning, who faced quite a bit of criticism early on in his career.
I would say that Strahan knows that anyone in the NFL can have a beak out season despite an up and down start to their careers. He believes that Jones has what it takes to get the job done after being asked if he’s “the guy.”
“You know what? I love Daniel. As a person, absolutely,” Strahan told USA TODAY. “I think he has the perfect temperament, perfect everything for the position as a Giant. Physically? I’ll be honest with you, what an incredible athlete … I think he could be that guy. He is the guy. Now I think you’re giving him what he needs, and I think Jason Garrett is going to do the right job setting himself up in this system so he could be successful and lead the drive to a Super Bowl, which I’m hoping is very soon.”
I think one thing that people don’t mention is the fact that this is only going to be Jones’ second season in offensive coordinator Jason Garrett’s system. That likely explains him “declining ” last season from his rookie year.
With the new weapons that New York’s offense has and the fact that they are going into their second season under Garrett, I think Jones will have a much better season.
