Who will start for the NY Giants in 2021?
With NFL training camps kicking off next week, Ben Linsey of Pro Football Focus decided to predict every team’s starting lineup.
When looking at who Linsey has starting for the New York Giants, there are some surprises to me.
First of all, Linsey has Lorenzo Carter starting at one edge rusher position opposite of Azeez Ojulari. This is a surprise to me because of Carter coming off of an Achilles injury. Now I do believe he’s one of their top edge rushers, but I’m not sure if he’ll start week one. Like with running back Saquon Barkley, I could see the Giants take things slowly with him.
When it comes to New York’s offensive line, Linsey has the starting unit looking like the following:
- LT Andrew Thomas
- LG Shane Lemieux
- C Nick Gates
- RG Will Hernandez
- RT Matthew Peart
Some people might be surprised to see Peart starting over Nate Solder, but this makes the most sense because I think Peart played better as rookie than Solder did in 2019.
The last surprise to me is that Linsey has second-year linebacker Tae Crowder starting next to Blake Martinez in the middle. I think the odds are that veteran Reggie Ragland could win that spot, but I would love to see Crowder take it and play great. Especially after being the last pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.
