No surprise that the NY Giants made these moves
Update: Here are some more details from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Original: On Thursday news came out via the NFL wire that New York Giants’ running back Saquon Barkley offensive lineman Matthew Peart, Jonotthan Harrison, rookie cornerback Aaron Robinson, linebacker Oshane Ximines and tight end Kyle Rudolph will start off training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Rudolph and Barkley can be activated at anytime. I don’t think we’ll see either player play during the preseason out of caution. The question is, will they be ready for the Giants’ regular season opener?
Barkley is of course coming back from a torn ACL and Rudolph ended up having to undergo offseason surgery on his foot. I would love to know why the other players are starting out camp on the PUP list. They must have suffered an injury during OTA’s and/or minicamp.
Like Barkley, Rudolph hasn’t revealed when he thinks he’ll be back on the field. All we can do is wait and see what happens. Both players of course can’t practice until they’re activated from the PUP list.
The Giants also placed running back Taquan Mizzell on injured reserve and running back Sandro Platzgummer and edge rusher Ryan Anderson on the non-football injury list.
The Giants’ rookies reported to training camp on Wednesday and the rest of the roster will join them early next week as they prepare for their first preseason game on August 14th against the New York Jets.
