With a 3-2 Win Over the Blue Jackets, the Sharks End a 10-game Losing Streak

The San Jose Sharks upset the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2 on Tuesday night, snapping a 10-game losing streak. Scott Reedy had his first career two-goal game.

Rudolfs Balcers also scored, and Kaapo Kahkonen made 22 saves to help the Sharks end their longest losing streak since November 2005, when they lost 10 in a row.

Columbus’ Jack Roslovic scored twice, his third multi-goal outing in the last five games.

Elvis Merzlikins recorded a total of 25 saves. In their last 14 games, the Blue Jackets have lost 11 of them.

The game, which featured two teams out of postseason contention and both missing key players due to injury, was sloppy at times and lacked drama until late in the game.

Reedy gave the Sharks the lead early in the game when he obtained position in front of the net on the power play and banged home a rebound.nhl

With a spin-o-rama pass from below the net, rookie Thomas Bordeleau added to San Jose’s lead.

A successful challenge for offside by the Sharks wiped out an apparent goal by Adam Boqvist late in the first for Columbus.

Reedy then made it 3-0 by batting a rebound of Sasha Chmelevski’s shot past Merzlikins in midair.

Early in the third period, the Blue Jackets eventually broke through when Roslovic scored on a rush late in a power play.
