According to the FCT-IRS, the recognised employer recognition status that will be bestowed upon the service by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will enable the personnel to take on more significant tasks.
This was said by Mr Haruna Abdullahi, the Acting Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Inland Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), during his appearance at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja.
NAN is quick to point out that ACCA has just recently granted employer status to the FCT-IRS in honour of efforts made toward the development of a skilled and long-lasting labour force.
“It is quite significant. The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is a worldwide organisation and, if I have my facts straight, it is most likely the largest accounting body in the entire globe.
“The fact that it acknowledges the FCT-IRS and confirms that you are an approved employer with ACCA is excellent news for the service.
“I believe that somewhere, we are doing something right, and somebody is noticing it.
“I will give you an example in Nigeria; nowadays, it is just a few organisations like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Security and Exchange Commission, and quite a few agencies like Price Water House (PWC) that have received that kind of recognition.” “I will give you an example in Nigeria.”
According to him, it is a wonderful opportunity for us, but it also comes with a substantial amount of responsibility since it indicates that we are obligated to live up to the standard that we have been evaluated against.
That brings us to the issues that we are building capacity for our staff, but of course just to make sure that we are collaborating with every other professional body, he said. “That brings us to the issues that we are building capacity for our staff.”
In addition to expressing his happiness over the turn of events, Abdullahi went on to describe it as a significant milestone for the FCT-IRS.
“It is a huge deal for us; we are happy that somebody with global recognition is recognising what we are doing on the same pedestal with major organisations locally and internationally,” he said. “We are happy that somebody with global recognition is recognising what we are doing on the same pedestal with major organisations.”
Abdullahi extended praise to ACCA and remarked that the recognition could not have come at a better moment, noting that it provides the Service with a competitive advantage both domestically and internationally, particularly regarding capacity creation.
According to him, ACCA is a global platform, and recognition from such a prestigious association is capable of elevating the service to the next level.
“The approved employer recognised status is a major deal for the workforce, and it’s a huge duty for the service to make sure that all of the personnel are properly trained so that we can keep our standards high and uphold the good name of our organisation,”
