The payment is a part of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s $12 billion relief program, which he claimed puts a priority on putting money back in the pockets of millions of Californians who are struggling with global inflation and rising prices.

Who is Eligible for California Inflation Relief Payments?

According to the Franchise Tax Board, as of October 20, around 3.5 million Californians had already received their payments via direct deposit. The following details about California inflation relief checks include who is eligible, how much they can get, and how payments are made.

Residents who made $250,000 or less on their individual tax returns or $500,000 or less on their joint returns as a couple are eligible for a rebate.

However, residents must also have filed their 2020 tax refund by October 15, 2021, in addition to meeting the income standards. You must still be a resident of California on the date the payment is made and must have spent at least half of the 2020 tax year there.

Anyone claimed as a dependent by another person during the 2020 tax year, as well as single filers who made more than $250,000 and married couples who made more than $500,000 collectively, are ineligible.
