Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus Talk About Divorcing After 28 Years!

After nearly 30 years of marriage, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus are calling it quits, but they’re doing so “not with grief,” but with “love in our hearts.”

“It is after 30 years, five lovely children, and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways – not with grief, but with love in our hearts,” Billy Ray and Tish said in a joint statement to ET.

“It is now time to create our own paths,” the family representative said, after growing up together and raising a family they can be proud of.

“We will always be family,” the family representative added, “and we look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents.”

“We didn’t make this choice lightly or hastily, but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to bring some clarity and finality so that we can stay focused on what matters. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus, with love and hope”

Last week, Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in Tennessee. The case stated that Tish and Billy Ray have not lived together since February 2020, according to court documents acquired by ET.

Irreconcilable disagreements were identified as the reason for their divorce, and she is requesting that the court divide and distribute their marital assets evenly, as well as award her independent property.

This isn’t the first time someone in Tish and Billy Ray’s marriage has filed for divorce, as fans of the couple know. Billy Ray filed for divorce in October 2010 but later announced that he had dropped the case the following year.

In 2013, Tish filed for divorce. At the time, a spokeswoman for the couple told ET, “This is a private matter, and we are acting in our family’s best interests. At this time, we ask that you respect our privacy.”

Tish and Billy Ray married in December 1993, and they have five children: Miley Cyrus, 29, Noah Cyrus, 22, and Braison Cyrus, 27, as well as Brandi Cyrus, 34, and Trace Cyrus, 33, whom Trish gave birth to before they started dating. Billy Ray and his ex-girlfriend Kristin Luckey have a son named Christopher.
