Jane Fonda’s Cancer Diagnosis Gives Her Hope

A non-lymphoma Hodgkin’s diagnosis has been handed down to one of the most legendary actresses in the history of Hollywood.

On Friday, Jane Fonda, who is 84 years old, announced the news in an Instagram post.

“So, I have something very personal that I want to share with you, my dear friends.

She explained, “I have been given the diagnosis of non-lymphoma, Hodgkin’s and I have begun chemotherapy treatments.”

The Grace and Frankie actress has expressed positivity over the course of events, despite the gravity of the news that she received.

“This is a cancer that can be treated extremely successfully.

Because just 20% of individuals die, I count myself among the lucky ones.

She also expressed how blessed she was to “have health insurance and access to the greatest doctors and therapy,” and she acknowledged that she was aware of the privileges that came with her status as a celebrity.

She has been undergoing chemotherapy for around half a year, and according to her, the procedures are “doing fairly nicely.”

She stated that “almost every family in the United States has at some point or another been forced to cope with cancer,” and that “far too many do not have access to the great health care I am receiving,” which is “not acceptable.”

In addition to being an actress, Jane Fonda is a prominent environmentalist who has been detained on multiple occasions for her participation in demonstrations against the government’s response to climate change.

She stated that her political involvement will go on despite the state of her health.

She stated, “The midterm elections are drawing near, and they are more than consequential; therefore, you can rely on me to be right there together with you as we develop our army of climate champions.”

“The midterm elections are drawing near, and they are beyond consequential.”

Fonda stated that rather than wallow in self-pity, she was taking the opportunity to grow as a result of the situation and was “paying attention to the lessons it offers for me.”

She mentioned that the significance of the people in her life was one of the most important lessons she had acquired up to this point.

In the post, she stated, “If there’s one thing that it’s shown me already, it’s the importance of community.”

In an interview with British Vogue in 2019, the actress stated that she has had “a lot of cancer” over the years, and that she had to “frequently go to my skin doctor and have things cut off me by a surgeon” because of her love of the sun and the way it affects her skin.

This is not the first time the actress has been confronted with the possibility of developing cancer, either.

According to People, in 2010 she underwent surgery to have a lump removed from her breast, and in 2018 she had a growth removed from her upper lip. She also had a separate cancer issue in 2010.
