Include Succession Season 4: When It Will Be Renewed?

Since the 2018 premiere of Jesse Armstrong’s prestige drama Succession on HBO, fans have wondered how they could love a bunch of corporate jerks so much. They might not love it, but they might be so interested in business deals, family drama, and small jokes that it’s the only thing they want to watch and tweet about on Sundays.

Waystar Royco, a show about how the fictional Roy family tries to get ahead in their father’s media empire, had a lot of surprises in its third season, from funny, over-the-top episodes to a near-finale that changed almost everything about the show.

Because TV fans can’t get enough of board meetings, heated phone calls, and snarky insults, and because HBO wouldn’t dare let its award-winner go too soon (its third season got 25 Emmy nominations, including the most acting nominations ever), a fourth season was ordered back in fall 2021. After the shocking end of Season 3, there’s a lot to think a

the bout, so we’re going over everything we know about Season 4.

Release Date

According to Thrillist, HBO said that work on Season 4 of Succession had begun at the end of June. Since the show will probably be filmed all summer and into early fall, we can guess that Logan Roy and his family might be back in our lives sometime in early 2023.

Early 2023 sounds about right, but we know the show will be back no later than May 2023. In an interview with Deadline in July 2022, after the show was nominated for 25 Emmys, HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys said that the show should come back in time for the next Emmys season.

Episode Guide

The following season will have 10 episodes, one more than Season 3 and the same number as Seasons 1 and 2. We’ll take as many chances as possible to insult each other and compete with our siblings.

Cast Members

Almost everyone has agreed to come back for Season 4. Even though Kendall’s (Jeremy Strong) fate was unclear at the end of Season 3, he is still alive (and hopefully getting the help he needs), so he and his siblings (Shiv (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Connor) should come back (Alan Ruck). This should make all the investors happy.

Logan (Brian Cox), who is still at the top, makes deals that can’t be broken and messes up all his kids’ lives, so he’ll be back. We also know that Marcia (Hiam Abbass) and Willa (Justine Lupe) will be back.

And if you were wondering why a good actor like Matthew Macfadyen was playing Tom Wambsgans, who is often used as a punching bag, it’s clear now that he’s in one of the most critical roles on the show. Next season, he and his Sports, Greg Hirsch, played by Nicholas Braun, will play an even more significant role.

Even though GoJo just bought Waystar, our favorite business people should still be around, even though they aren’t related. That means that Gerri (J. Smith-Cameron), Karl (David Rasche), Frank (Peter Friedman), Hugo (Fisher Stevens), Colin (Scott Nicholson), Cyd Peach (Jeannie Berlin), and Kerry (Zo Winters) won’t be leaving any time soon. As Lukas Matsson moves to buy up Waystar Royco, we’ll probably see more of Alexander Skarsgard’s slimy Swedish tech genius, Lukas Matsson.

The Storyline

Fans have wondered since the start of Succession which Roy’s child will get a kiss from Daddy. None of them is the culprit. In the last episode of Season 3, Logan decided to go along with Lukas Matsson’s plan for GoJo to buy out Waystar in exchange for a board that Logan would approve.

Logan also goes back to the divorce agreement he made with Kendall, Roman, and Shiv’s mother, Caroline Collingwood (Harriet Walter), so that Kendall, Roman, and Shiv’s mother no longer have a supermajority against their father and can’t stop him from doing what he wants to do.

The last 15 minutes of the season change everything fans know about the show. They set up a fourth episode in which the Roy kids are on the same side as their dad instead of Kendall and Logan, as we’re used to. This basically takes away their power.

According to the official Season 4 logline from HBO, the sale of Waystar to Lukas Matsson will be a big part of next season as it gets closer. It says in the logline, “When the Roy family thinks about what their lives will be like once the sale is made, they feel existential anxiety and fight with each other. As the family thinks about a future in which their cultural and political power is severely limited, a power struggle breaks out.”

Logan says he likes Roman enough for Matsson to give him power. Most likely, Logan wants to see his kids work hard and take care of themselves in a way they haven’t had before. In an interview with Vulture, Brian Cox said that by the end of Season 3, Logan is “tired of his kids not being competent operators or good sparring partners.

In a more recent interview after being nominated for an Emmy, he said we can expect him to keep looking to his kids to “step up to the plate” and “do something original” in the next episodes. All of them are broken, annoying, and want power, so there’s no way they’ll let any of this go without a fight.

The most exciting thing is that Tom will probably keep plotting with Logan. He’s always said no one wins like Logan, and now that he’s made a “deal with the devil” by telling on Shiv and her brothers, he’s sure to be a key player in Logan’s plans for the company’s future.

Macfadyen told Deadline that he doesn’t know where the writers will take his character, but he trusts Logan more than he trusts Shiv and thinks what happened “makes sense.” Even though it was shocking, Shiv’s knowledge of it and growing hatred of Tom, which he saw Logan do at the end of the episode, will definitely lead to some surprises and plans. Sarah Snook told Vulture, “There’s a lot of potentials if Shiv knows, but her brothers don’t, and Tom doesn’t know that Shiv knows.”

Greg also has a lot of potentials. Nicholas Braun told Deadline in an interview after finding out he was nominated for an Emmy that he and his character are ready to go to the “dark side,” but he says the change won’t happen overnight.

He said, “He needs to learn the skills,” and “He doesn’t have the vocabulary or swagger that the Roys have.” This means that in Season 4, we might start to see more of his growth, and he might even stop being a joke.

Is Season 4 the Last Season of Succession?

HBO never said that Season 4 would be the last; it doesn’t look like it will be. Not only is it one of the most popular dramas on the network, but it has also won many awards. When Variety asked Jesse Armstrong if the show’s end was near, he said, “I won’t give a direct answer to that question. I don’t think it should keep going on indefinitely. But right now, we’re still having a good time.”

Even though the Roys’ sibling and business rivalries can’t last forever, it looks like fans of the show can look forward to at least a couple more seasons. But that’s just a guess, and we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, so we’ll keep looking forward to Season 4 and update this article when we know more.
