Stimulus check update: Direct transfer of $800 to beneficiaries within 24 hours

Palm Springs, California, will begin paying selected citizens $800 each month as part of a guaranteed income Stimulus check program on Monday.

The program, scheduled to commence the 18-month pay schedule on May 15, has carefully selected 30 recipients back in March and is now being administered by two nonprofit organizations, namely Queer Works and DAP Health.

Requirements For The Stimulus Check

In order to qualify for participation in this program, applicants needed to possess an income that was below 30% of the median income in Riverside County, equivalent to $16,600. Additionally, they needed to be clients of either Queer Works or DAP Health and be recognized as primary residents of Palm Springs.

Recipients are required to participate in research run by Queer Works in addition to getting financial assistance. To collect data for this study, participants must complete monthly surveys.

The information collected from this program will be compiled and made available every six months, with the final report anticipated to be released in winter 2024.

Palm Springs, California, will begin paying selected citizens $800 each month as part of a guaranteed income Stimulus check program on Monday.

Applications for this program opened on March 15 and concluded on March 25. The selected recipients were notified of their acceptance on March 30.

The funding for this program, which has been identified as a form of universal basic income by Queer Works, is derived from the city of Palm Springs itself. In order to support this initiative, the city has allocated a substantial amount of $500,000.

It is worth noting that this program is just one among a series of guaranteed income programs being implemented throughout the state of California. In the city of El Monte, for instance, another program is scheduled to commence on June 1.

In this particular initiative, 125 selected applicants will receive a monthly payment of $500.

Moreover, in Sonoma County, recipients of the Pathway to Income Equity pilot program are currently benefiting from monthly payments of $500. The next installment of this program is slated to be distributed on May 17.

These efforts reflect a growing trend of guaranteed income programs being introduced in various regions of California, aiming to provide financial support and alleviate economic stress for individuals and households.
