Child Tax Credit Alert: 11 US States Offering Up to $1,750 – Are You Eligible?

States use tax revenue and unused federal aid for inflation relief through rebates and stimulus payments and some states continue to support families by providing child tax credits (CTCs) ranging in value from $180 to $1,750 for each child.

Because of the enlarged CTC, most working-class Americans earned $3,000 for children under the age of 18 and $3,600 for children under the age of six.

However, the credit was only enhanced for 2021. When President Biden’s Build Back Better initiative failed to gain congressional approval in 2022, the maximum CTC amount was reverted to $2,000 per child.

Nowadays, 11 states are sending refundable CTCs totaling between $180 and $1,750 per eligible child to families.

While Republicans oppose these incentives less passionately than federal legislation, they typically originate in Democratic-majority states, and those that have succeeded have frequently received bipartisan support.
